THE CAT

THE CAT

Striped golden cat,
Child’s only pet.
Coolly she sits on carpet and door mat
Coiled she is, wherever she sat,
Lovely is her dance,
Run, jump, hip-hop,
Twist and tango,
And she catches the rat.
In the junkyard,
She found the
Old style
English hat.
In which she comfortably took rest,
And slept.

The alluring pet,
The mewing cat,
Serenely she walked,
Silently she talked,
Enjoying the nine lives,
On milk she thrives.
The claws on tin roof,
Made no noise.
Seldom heard her voice,
Puzzle, puns and purr,
Fear and shudder,
The plight of neighours,
Even then,
She was delight of family.
